Sugar-Free Vanilla Indulgence Just in time for the coldest days of winter, Community Users are sharing a new hot-beverage discovery: General Foods International Sugar-Free Vanilla Crème instant coffee. Made with water, it has a POINTS value of just 1 per serving*, although some Community Users suggest preparing it with skim milk instead. "I sprinkle a little bit of nutmeg over the top when I make this," says one Community User. "It's luscious!" Another tops her cup with a dollop of fat-free Cool Whip for a warming winter treat, while others suggest stirring in a few teaspoons of the mix into plain coffee or tea for an infusion of vanilla flavor. And since the drink is caffeine-free, you can even indulge at bedtime.
Suck on Super Sour Mints Although they're called mints, new Ice Breakers sugar-free Fruit Sours have a sweet-sour taste that Community Users are going crazy for. They have a POINTS value of zero per mint* and are "addicting," says one Community User. "Sours don't usually appeal to me, but my husband bought them and now I can't stop!" she says. "The watermelon and apple ones are sweet and the pink lemonade and tangerine are sour," and she even got her coworkers hooked on the tiny candies.
Steam Toward Tasty Veggies If you don't like plain vegetables, or just want to add a little variety to your menu, some Community Users suggest trying McCormick's new Veggie Steamers, especially the cheddar cheese flavor; look for them in the gravy aisle at the supermarket. The kit consists of a special microwavable plastic bag and a sauce mix (there's also a garlic and basil variety)—all you do is add your favorite kind of vegetable and some water, pop it into the microwave, and your side dish will be cooked in less than 10 minutes. Of course, since one-third of the sauce in the package has a POINTS value of just 1*, some Community Users are eating their savory veggies as a snack or even a main course! "You will not be disappointed," say one Community User. "It's fantastic!" raves another, who planned on using it on her vegetables at the holidays. Our Community Users have one tip, though: Broccoli and cauliflower cook at different rates, so avoid combining them if you can.
Caramel-Peanut Candy Bar It seems our Community Users have a soft spot for chocolate, especially when it's mixed with peanut butter and caramel. The new Kashi GoLean caramel-peanut rolls (don't let the name fool you—they're shaped like a round candy bar) have a POINTS value of 4* and they're getting rave reviews from Community Users. "I had one last night, and it was sinful! And filling," says one Community User. "It was very satisfying, because I ate it slowly. I've never eaten a candy bar that slowly before!" Another Community User described these treats as "amazing," and yet another said they were a "must-have" snack.
