We spiked these mashed potatoes with wasabi-powder and wow, do they have fantastic flavor. The addition of just one flavor-packed ingredient really can elevate a recipe to new heights.
Ingredients
* 4 medium potato(es), peeled and cut into large chunks (about 2 lbs) * 1/2 cup 2% reduced fat milk * 1 tsp wasabi powder, or more to taste * 2 Tbsp reduced-fat sour cream * 1 Tbsp butter * 1 Tbsp chives, fresh, minced * 1/2 tsp table salt
Instructions
* Boil potatoes in a large pot of water over high heat until very tender when pricked with a fork, about 15 to 20 minutes; drain and mash potatoes with a hand masher or electric mixer.
* Heat milk in a small saucepan over medium heat for 5 minutes; add wasabi powder and stir to dissolve. Add milk mixture, sour cream, butter, chives and salt to potatoes; stir to combine. Yields a generous 1/2 cup per serving.
