First - I wasn't sure where to post this question.
Secondly - I usually measure out my portions (1 cup of this, 1/4 cup of that) but when it gets to oz's I am just dumbfounded. Does anyone know how many "cups" (I know it is less then one cup) 3 oz of lean ground beef is? (I ask because I am trying to start cooking one dinner rather then two and my bf doesn't like chicken or turkey! I figure every once in awhile I can eat what he eats with only a few modifications.)

Meridith, great question! You might be able to find a nice food scale at any discount store, or you can get the WW scale...I love it.
I posted a category called "Portion Primer", it's on the front page but here is a link PORTION PRIMER
A 3 ounce serving of cooked lean ground beef is about the size of deck of cards. The portion primer section has visual examples of what certain portions should look like, that's helpful when you're eating out and don't have a scale or measuring cup with you! So, you can even print this out and keep it in your purse to help you judge portions (that's what I do..it helps!)
Good luck...blessings,
Colette

I have to agree - I usually want the portions to be larger as well but ever since I started this I have been shocked that a portion of something is usually a good size of food!
