I was thinking about cooking spaghetti for supper.....well, I am cooking it for supper, lol.
I am going to use 96% lean hamburger meat, the spaghetti and sauce. How will I go about figuring the points. I usually mix it all together and serve it that way.
Wonder what the odds are of one of you reading this before I cook it??? lol. (not good I bet)
I went to WW online message board and got some help. Someone told me to find the points for all ingredients used and then divide that by the number of servings it appeared to have in it. Does that sound right?
I ended up counting my serving of spaghetti as 8 points. Has anyone found something different for that? I did it for like 4 servings. I know that's complicated to answer without knowing what all I used. Just wondering if that sounded close to you guys.
Yeah! That sounds right to me. Another way that might lower the points some is using whole wheat pasta.
You could also figure up what the pasta is by itself per serving and maybe not use as much pasta on your serving as the others....like adding the sauce after you measure out yours. ust a thought or 2.

You might find our Portion Primer section helpful in guiding you to proper portion control. I gathered the information from the WW.com website and it really helps me to visualize my portions.
One cup of spaghetti is the size of a tennis ball. The way they told you to figure it is right...and if you know how much one cup of spaghetti is then you can even add points for an extra serving. I use the DelMonte or Best Choice brand canned spaghetti sauce. The vegetable ones are 1 point and are very, very good. I also use the 93% lean ground beef and just figure the points for everything seperate, then add it up. That is the good thing about Core...when I was on it I didn't have to measure or add. If it was a Core food (they use whole grain pasta...which grew on me after a while) and I could eat what I needed to feel satisfied.
Anyway...that's how I do it. Also, have you tried the Light Italian bread? Two slices is = to 1 point. With some Promise Buttery Spread on it (1 Tbsp=0 points) and a little garlic powder mixed in...it makes killer garlic toast to go with spaghetti.
OOOPS! I'm getting hungry...better stop!
Hope this helps. Sorry that I just saw your post, so I'm a little late in answering. Colette

I looked for the Italain breat but couldn't find it. I did get the Sara Lee Delightful you suggested Chelle, I really LIKE it!! Thanks.
Same here for finding the Italian....hope I can find it one day.
The Sara Lee Delightful is great!!! Did you get the regular (100% whole wheat) or the 100% with honey? We use the honey and it is oh so good!!!!!!

Yeah! A friend of mine started last week with our group and she lost 6 lbs her first week! Yea!
Anyway, she love PB sandwiches, but was bummed about how many points they were. We figured out she did not know about the 1 pt for 2 slices. We quickly informed her!!!!

I still find I have LOTS of questions, hehe. Sounds like she's doing great! Good for her! And for you signing up a friend. Wish I had some friends doing this with me.....but hey...I do...I have YOU GUYS!!!!! hehe!!! (I'm a corn-ball!)
Correction...according to the WW website, 1 tablespoon of peanut butter is 2 points. If you eat 2 tablespoons at the same time it's 4.5 (which I do almost every morning).
I don't know if the booklets say something different, but that's what the WW points data base says.
The light breads are fantastic! I get either Wonder or another kind (can't remember the name, starts with a D...it's italian bread and in a red, white and green plastic bag). It's so good! I'll see if I can find the name for it for you.
Glad that you're enjoying your spaghetti and bread!
Love, Colette
